The devastation of Harvey has left our community reeling over the past two days.
Despite difficult conditions, emergency officials are working to assess the damage that has already left hundreds of thousands of people without power or access to food and water and shut down municipal services, highways, schools and community institutions. At this time, we are unsure when the weather will clear, but we must begin acting immediately. We have always come together in times of crisis, and this time will be no different.
We have set up an online form
to collect local donations for immediate needs in the community including food, water and shelter. Getting as many individuals as possible to safety and out of harm's way is our first goal, and funds will be used in this way immediately.
After we have stabilized our community, we will look at additional long-term needs and dedicate funds accordingly.JFS is the main organization that you should contact if you need assistance.
They have set up a webpage
up with helpful information.
